Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

My daughter's adenoid is enlarged, and she frequently experiences ear pain and throat infections. Doctors are prescribing Montelukast, antibiotics, Paracetamol, and Ibuprofen, advising against removing the adenoids at this age since she is now 7 years old. Current medication details include a steroid nasal spray, Singular 5 mg, Ibuprofen, and Panadol for ear pain, antibiotics for throat infections, and Ciprobay HC otic. Please help me.

Hello,

I am glad you chose icliniq for your medical-related queries.

I understand your concern. If your daughter is experiencing more than five episodes in one year, it is recommended to remove tonsils and adenoids together. Does your daughter snore during sleep? How many attacks of infection has she had in the last year? At 7 years of age, it is safe to remove tonsils and adenoids if needed.

Based on the information provided, you are using a steroid nasal spray and Montelukast, suggesting that she might have allergic rhinitis (a running nose) or another allergic condition related to breathing. Please confirm this along with the above information mentioned, and I will be in a better position to advise you. You can connect with me on chat if you want to discuss the issue in more detail.

I hope you are satisfied with my answer. For further queries, you can consult me at icliniq.

Thank you.
