Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am a 22-year-old female. My height is five feet seven inches, and my weight is 125.67 pounds. Yesterday, I woke up in the morning and had minor vomiting five to six times with diarrhea. The vomiting stopped in the afternoon, but the diarrhea continued. Then, I experienced chest pain when I pressed over the left side of my chest directly close to the center. It does not hurt much when I do not press. I should also mention the existence of a "hardball" almost the size of a ping pong ball where I press. It has existed for over two years now, but it never hurts. It only started yesterday and still does today. I am not currently on any medication, although under a week ago, I was taking stomach pain medicine.

Please help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Thank you for writing, and I understand your concern.

I read your query and can understand your concern about your symptoms, and it appears that you have gastroenteritis. If you are not pregnant, then I suggest you do the following:

1. Take a tablet of Metronidazole 500 mg twice a day for three days.

Tablet Hyoscine (scopolamine butyl bromide) twice a day for two days.

Oral rehydration solution for three days.

2. Try to eat more yogurt, drink eight to ten glasses of water daily, and also avoid caffeine and alcohol consumption.

3. I would suggest you have easily digestible food. For instance, consume semisolid and low-fiber foods. It will initiate normal stool movements.

For your chest pain and the lump in your chest, I suggest that you have a physical examination done by a local doctor. I wish you good health.

I hope I have answered your question.

Do get back in case of any further queries.

Thank you.
