Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am 35 years old, but something has been happening with my body for the past year. I used to go to sleep with my anus or rectum dry, but after waking up in the morning, I found that it was wet and my finger could enter my anus freely with a foul smell. I have not used any medication for this yet, and I do not think it is hemorrhoids.

Please help.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

Based on the symptoms you have described, it would be advisable to consult with a healthcare professional or a gastroenterologist. They can provide a proper evaluation and diagnosis based on your specific symptoms and medical history. A healthcare professional may perform several tests or examinations to determine the cause of your symptoms. These can vary depending on your specific situation, medical history, and the suspected underlying condition. Here are some examples:

  1. Physical examination: The healthcare professional may visually inspect the anal area and surrounding tissues for any abnormalities, such as external hemorrhoids or skin conditions.
  2. Digital rectal examination: This involves the insertion of a gloved, lubricated finger into the rectum to check for any abnormalities, such as internal hemorrhoids, anal fissures, or rectal prolapse.
  3. Stool sample analysis: A sample of your stool may be collected and sent to a laboratory for analysis. This can help identify any infections, parasites, or other underlying gastrointestinal conditions.
  4. Proctoscopy or anoscopy: These procedures involve the insertion of a thin, flexible tube with a camera into the rectum or anus to visualize the area more closely. They can help detect conditions such as hemorrhoids, rectal polyps, or inflammation.
  5. Colonoscopy or sigmoidoscopy: These procedures involve the use of a longer, flexible tube with a camera to examine the entire colon or the lower part of the colon. They can help identify conditions such as inflammatory bowel disease, colorectal polyps, or cancer.
  6. Blood tests: Blood tests may be conducted to check for signs of infection, inflammation, or other underlying medical conditions that could be contributing to your symptoms.

These are just a few examples of the tests and examinations that a healthcare professional may consider based on your specific symptoms and medical history. They will determine the most appropriate course of action to provide an accurate diagnosis and develop a treatment plan tailored to your needs. Remember, it is important to consult with a healthcare professional to discuss your symptoms and undergo a proper evaluation. They will guide you through the diagnostic process and provide appropriate recommendations. Take care, and reach out to a healthcare professional for further assistance.

In the meantime, you can try to maintain good hygiene in the anal area, gently cleaning with warm water and mild soap. Avoid using harsh or scented products that may further irritate the area.

Take care, and do not hesitate to seek medical advice for a physical check-up.

Thank you.
