What causes recurrent redness and pain in the eyes?

Hi doctor,

For about four years now, I have been getting recurrent redness in the eyes. It starts in one eye at this time of every year. There is no discharge, but stay as a painful red eye. It will go away for a week and then recur for a couple of days before clearing up again. It usually last on and off for a month or so before going away. This is the beginning of dry weather in my place. Also, now we begin using our wood stove for heat. I do have on and off rosacea. I have tried many eye drops, but they do not seem to work.

Please help.

My 2 years baby is getting tears while watching TV. Why?

Hi doctor,

My daughter is 2 years old, and she always eats food while watching iPad. I just noticed that today while watching the cartoon on TV, I could see the tear coming out of her eyes. Is it normal? She had cold last week, and even then water was coming out of her eyes that day. What could be the reason? Is it something to worry about?

How long does it take to heal a scratched inner eye?

Hi doctor,

Last night, I was trying to pluck an eyelash that was poking into my eye, and accidentally scratched the most inner part of my eye. I believe it is called the lacrimal caruncle. There is a tiny scrape. It almost looks like a red scratch on the skin and so I know I scratched it a little. I have included a picture to show you what part of the eye it is. How long will it take to heal? Also, is there anything I can put in my eye to speed the recovery? Kindly help.
