The growth and development period of a child is marked by developmental milestones, which is achieved within specific age ranges. The age-related developmental periods are:
1. 0 to 4 weeks – Newborn.
2. 4 weeks to 1 year – Infant.
3. 1 to 3 years – Toddlers.
4. 4 to 6 years – Preschooler.
5. 6 to 11 years – School-aged child.
6. 12 to 18 years – Adolescent.
As the child grows, biological, psychological, and emotional changes can be seen. These developmental stages do not progress at the same rate for everyone, as it is affected by genetic factors, prenatal life, and previous developmental experiences.
